CHARACTERS

BABS - 40-ish. Guards her emotions behind a wall of steel and muscle.
ABBY - A few years younger. Her heavy suitcase is not the only baggage dragging her down.
OLGA - Older, accented. The charm of a Dickensian landlord.
OLGA can be SVEN with appropriate pronoun changes throughout.

SETTING

A hotel lobby.

SYNOPSIS

Two women with a complicated history reunite after one commits murder.

What's worse, a dead rat in the toilet or a dead husband in the kitchen? Is there a difference?
In the play, Babs has to make some tough decisions when her old flame Abby turns up on the run from her abusive husband - who she's stabbed in the back of the neck with a kitchen knife.
It's a dark comedy with a heart of murder.

Of Rats and Men premiered in April of 2010 in Los Angeles at The Tre Stage as part of the original "The Writer Speaks" festival, with Shae Kennedy and Tracy Maddox.

It has since been produced at Theatre Encino and Piano Fight 3.0 in Los Angeles, and most recently at the Kauai Shorts Festival in Maui presented by Women in Theatre.
