Tricked is a brand new play, coming soon from YouthPLAYS!

Why this play?

I have secret plans, that you alone know - okay, you and Jonathan Dorf over at YouthPLAYS. But I'm not posting anything on social media, this is exclusive to those of you who have dived this far down into my website. I am planning a collection of ten minute plays - all spooky, or unsettling, that can be performed as a cohesive evening, something like Almost, Maine except with more ghosts, demons, and cannibalism. Okay, I'm iffy on the cannibalism. We'll see what I write!
The collection will probably include Ashes, already published by YouthPLAYS, and New Kid Next Door, which was included in Smith & Kraus' Best Ten Minute Plays of 2024.
Tricked is the first play written specifically for this new collection. I wanted something that was a true horror play, something with a good jump scare or two, growing unease, and a dramatic, haunting ending! YouthPLAYS is excited by it enough that they want to put it out as a stand alone play, even while I work on the rest of the collection. So enjoy the play, while I try and come up with several more, just as good! (It may be a long year.)

In Tricked, Asher knows everything about Ouija boards and how to actually use one to raise a real spirit. Brooklyn doesn’t believe a word of it…but when they experiment on Halloween night, Brooklyn learns that the powers she dismissed are very real, very dangerous…and no one can be trusted with them!
